Summer Blog Promo Tour Post #2

Hello, everyone welcome to my second post for the Summer Blog Promo Tour. I'm super excited to be here this week with Lizzie from Big Books and Grande Lattes, It took us awhile to figure out a topic, aka the idea slump. I'm really excited to be doing this topic of 5 New Tips for bloggers, when I first started blogging this would have been really helpful to find something like this as well as posts on how others blog. This would have helped me find my own unique way, but like a lot of us it took us awhile, but now we are here. Without further ado here's her tips.

Hey everyone! I'm Lizzie from Big Books and Grande Lattes, and I'm really excited to be here for the Summer Blog Promo Tour! Today I'm going to give five tips to new bloggers!

1.
Don't worry about followers.
Yeah, I know that it seems like a super important thing, but followers don't matter as long as you're enjoying yourself. You're doing this because you love gushing about books, not because you want a ton of followers.

2.
Don't worry about ARCs.
Yes, I know that they seem like a big deal getting to read the book before it is released, but it doesn't mean that you're not as good if you don't get them. You can always try sending emails and joining Netgalley and Edelweiss, but they aren't necessary to be a blogger. You can still help spread the word about upcoming releases without reading them.

3.
Join social media.
This is the best way to get to know other bloggers and to advertise yourself. I wish that I had joined Twitter years ago, as I would have met so many other great bloggers sooner. Yes, it can be scary joining different platforms, but just follow fellow bloggers you admire and you'll meet a ton of great people!

4.
Learn some HTML.
I had no clue what HTML was when I first started, and I really wish I had looked it up before I started my blog. It makes formatting posts so much easier. And if you ever don't understand anything, there are tons of tutorials and plenty of bloggers who can help you out!

5.
Do some research before you start.
One of my biggest regrets is not learning how to blog before I started. As I said before, I wish I had learned some HTML, along with learning the difference between Blogger and WordPress, how to use social media, different types of posts, etc. It will make you so much more prepared and give you plenty of resources in case you're not sure what to do.

So here are my five tips for new bloggers! Yes, it may seem intimidating, but it's really just about having fun, meeting new people, and gushing about books. But some preparedness really helps! I hope you enjoyed this post and check out others in the Summer Blog Promo Tour!

I hope you find her tips very helpful. Stay tune for more posts from the Summer Blog Promo Tour. Today I will be on Kaitlin's blog Next Page Please. Remember keep looking for your Once Upon A Time.

  1. Great tips Lizzie! I totally agree about not worrying how many followers you have. I also wished I had learned some HTML when I started blogging. My blog was lame at the beginning, lol.
    Take care,
    Katie

  2. Oh yes, learning basic HTML will surely come in handy while book blogging! I tend to tweak my posts every so often whenever Blogger doesn't want to cooperate. :)
